Up here in Vermont, at least that would be a city tree, and the parks department would be responsible for removing it - same for you?
Well, if we can believe the scientists who should be in the know of the matter - and I do - we can expect hurricanes to start affecting a lot more people in a lot of new places during our lifetimes.
The Atlantic is warming up, and the computer models are showing that hurricanes will develop higher peak winds, for longer amounts of time, and will move a lot farther north than any living person has ever seen.
Predictions are for full-fledged hurricanes to hit along the full northern coast of America up to at least Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia!
Imagine what a cat 5 storm would do to NYC or Boston.
Immensely powerful yet with a liquid cat-quick elegance
Hmm, looks like Akron is a big a mess as Columbus huh?
I got lucky this time:
My wife took Vlad the Impala out to work, and a building collapsed right next to where it was parked. Vlad was unscathed.
Also despite the house actually swaying a little bit in the wind, I didn't lose any siding, while my neighbor 2 doors away seems to have lost a fifth of his on one side...
Edit: Apologies if this came across as flippant. It wasn't intended, but I couldn't resist.
Good luck with that!
You call this misanthropic?
Stickinthemud from the Dallas-Fort Worth area reporting. Nothing worse than 30 mph winds and some rain. Really freaky what happened to your tree, Michael. Perhaps FEMA can help you out.
Seriously, glad no one was hurt! (Other than the tree, that is)
A misanthrope is a person who dislikes or distrusts humanity as a general rule.
Misanthropy does not necessarily imply an inhumane, antisocial, or sociopathic attitude towards humanity and on the contrary is generally a reaction to the observed prevalence of these and other backward properties of the present state of the human race.
Mr Render strikes me as an okay chap and I have no beef with him.
I thought those hurricane gusts were supposed to stay down in the gulf coast. Here is what Ike did to my house and I am in OHIO!
Looks like ya going back to your roots!
I reckon the sheer force of the Mondor 11 is the real culprit, hope u get it shifted, juice up those chainsaws baby, if i was close i would come and lend a hand, now how many drum sticks could we make out of that? by the way you have a beautiful house Michael
How can you only get 30 MPH and we are getting over 70?
We were expecting it to be a lot worse in the Dallas area, but we lucked out. Had things passed a few miles farther to the west, we'd be pickin' up sticks right there with ya.
I talked with friends who live in Houston last night. She said it looks like the proverbial war zone. Bad stuff down there.
