  • New kit, quick question

    Hi all,

I took the plunge last week and ordered myself a TD-10K kit (to the US peeps that would be a V-Session I think?), a superb piece of gear. I have to wait 3-4 weeks for mine but I've got an identical loan kit from the store in the meantime to get to grips with it - my problem is this:

When I hit the hi-hat it triggers Tom4 lightly, I've done some checking and it seems Tom4 is WAAAAAY too sensitive and picks up the slightest little vibration through the rack. Can I cure this, and if so, how?

    Thanks,

    Marc. (a very happy newbie!)

Look for a parameter called crosstalk or x-talk.

... and then raise its setting

Otherwise: try to dampen the rack tubes with foam
Or mount the pads on different rack tubes

Yeah, they've been absolutely brilliant (Academy Of Sound in Sheffield if anyone's from round here, which I suspect nobody is!!!). It was all set-up in store and they spent time with me, showing me round it because 4000 UKP is a lot to spend and I needed to be sure it was up to the job. Then loaning me the kit topped it all off nicely, it means I'm up and playing already... And when I get mine, I'll have done all the messing about on theirs and I'll have a nice shiny factory fresh kit that I'll already know how to use.

            Good eh?

This thread has a lot of good stuff on trigger settings. Look for feefer's posts. You'll know them when you see them. They are long and detailed. There is more than one post so keep reading.
