  • Can I relax the action?

So I went down to my local Guitar Center today, looking to trade in my PD-5's. They trigger alright, but they feel a little stiff. Not somehting I'd want to spend four hours whacking away on. I was looking to buy myself some of those new PD-6s. Single-zone, no problem. Then the salesman told me I could get $20/pad towards a trade-in. Oh, I think not. I gathered my pads, looked around, took a listen to a TD-6, and took my leave. Just a side note here: the salesman was fine, I just didn't like the rate. Don't take the preceding as a knock to the personnel. Fine people at Guitar Center.

So what do I do now? I like the response of the pads alright, but again, they feel a little stiff. I was thinking I could use some of those Tama Practice Tips, put those on my sticks, and the extra coating would give me a not-so-hard response. Is this a valid theory? Thanks folks.
