  • Stupid recording question

    I have a 24ch. 8 bus console..and I also have Cubase 32 VST...

How do I get from my console into my PC??? Also - I have a PIII 450 laptop with 258MB ram and 20gig HD... Would this suffice for making some band recordings? We are looking to make a demo CD (new band) and I am wondering how I can use my gear to do it... So - what the heck do I need to get from my mixer into cubase on either my PC or laptop?

    Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Nice!
So, for a laptop, is there an affordable sound card that you recommend?

    Thanks again!

      Hi,

The aardvark is one of the best for sure. As a laptop user however, you are very limited.

I use a laptop. You'll need a PCM card (slides into the side). The best I've found is the digigram VX pocket V2. You can pick one up on Ebay for about $300-400. I think it retails for about $600.

Although tempting, don't go USB (like the Extigy). I/O latency is pathetic.

      Good luck!

If the laptop has Firewire, you can use a Motu 828. 8 analog I/O and the option of using multiple 828's at the same time.
