Is it me or are the drum tabs that you can download off the web really suck. I have been learning some new songs and I wanted to use a tab as a basic reference. All the ones that I have looked at are not correct. Some have not even been close. I learned a long time ago that if everybody else is wrong than it usually is you who are wrong and not everybody else. Has anyone else noticed this or should I go back to music class?

Well it depends what sort of tab you are talking about.. Many sites i have looked at use this sort of system:
H-x-x-xx-x-xx-x-
R----------------
C---------------x
B-x-xx-x-xx-x-xx-
S--x--x-x--x-x--x
etc.. rather than the formal drum notation tab. The above tabs tend to be rather inaccurate, as you just cant tab drums like guitars. Having said that, i havent really found many 'proper' drum tabs online anywhere.

That's the kind I'm talking about. Some of the inaccuracies I've seen are 1/4 note high hats and they have down 8th notes.Comment

I know the problem! Its well confusing when you are just tryin to figure out one hat pattern or something, and its completly out. Most annoying. People should use preper notation software or something. Ah well.... back to the old c-d up at full volume!

if you are looking for tabs for oldies, Mel Bay publications has a "cheat sheet" compilation of the drum tabs of the main beats of over 1000 songs, from the 60's to about the 80's.
After that, of course, all the drumming becomes so simple minded noone needs tabs anymore.

I'm not really into looking at the tabs because I haven't seen an accurate one yet.
