  • larry mullen jr sound....

on 'where the streets have no name', larry plays the opening bars on a snare and someone said it may be ran through an effects board. i would like to dedicate a pad to this sound for that song but dont know how to duplicate it. can anyone define it for me? thanks.

For the majority of that song (according to how he plays it on the video), he uses a floor tom mounted to the left of the snare, and his snare drum with the snare strainer disengaged, giving it a tenor drum sound. If my tattered old mind serves me correctly, that is...

Didja watch the Super Bowl halftime show? He was playing there using the tom & snare, so he must play it differently now than when the tab was written. Not unusual; hell, some of my drum parts change darn near every gig!

        Whatever works...
