  • The fastest drummer in the world

So this guy I read about supposedly played 1,071 Single Strokes in 60 Seconds, and got into the guinness book of records. I'd like to get a audio clip of that, huh?

That's like 17 hits a second, nonstop for 60 seconds. I need to see that happen.

Imagine how fast he can do the old 'Five Finger Shuffle' with Mrs.Palmer.

Is there a world record for that??

I wonder whether any of you guys ever tried the Drumometer? How fast can you guys do a single stroke for 1 minute? What's the average? And what are the speeds of famous Pro's? Billy Cobham, Dennis Chambers, etc etc??
I think the drumometer is a very cool thing to have.

Sorry, for me it is just boring.

Like Neil Peart once said in a Modern Drummer interview: " don't waiste your time looking at other people but use it for becoming better yourself ".

            Putt,
I know exactly what you're saying. But it would be nice to see some yardstick so you have something to strive for, like you said, to be better yourself, or be the best you can be.. whatever. Also, a true musician doesn't just have speed, we all know that from reading MD..

                Binary,

I saw Johnny Rabb doing his award-winning thing on some MTV minispot. The photos you posted were from the same scene. Mainly, he got his speed from his fingers while using a French grip (thumbs on the top, like a tympanist), but he would alternate with a regular grip with more wrist action as his fingers tired. At all times ,tho, his stick motion was rather high--maybe 10 inches off the drumometer pad. All in all, rather impressive, but slower than you can rip singles for a (very) short period of time, believe it or not.

He claimed that the enormous stamina and power of his fingers and wrists was developed during a period of extended absence from his wife.

When I first got married, my wife did not like me practising so much.. it went from 1hr a day to 30mins a day to maybe fewer days in a week. But when I make sure I love her enough in the day, I could practise more. Things like getting her favorite drink, listening to her talk, etc.

What about you guys? How do you get more time off for practise from your wives? I'd like to know.

so you're married then? if not then you're gay?

How good is support from Roland in Sydney? Or in general drum products? I have friends going to Australia quite often and I am looking for this very silent gel like practise pad, that I bought in Japan, but I'm looking for another to buy.

There are more colours in this world. For instance: you can live with a girl without being married. Or is this no longer allowed since George Double YOU Bush?
