  • Just another experiment...

I am trying a new program that makes my computer the host of my website (website hosts just seem so unreliable these days!).

I was wondering if a couple of you guys from hither and tither could jump on my newly hosted site for just a second. I am curious to see if the program is really working. It is just an index of my already well worn and somewhat tired Cyberjam site.

    Give it a try please:

    Thanks guys!

It all seems to be OK (if yes, a little tired), except the pictures aren't appearing...

I'm using a PC with IE6 if that's any help.

my web browser is looking for the pictures on my D:/ drive
      ie
      file:///D:/Hosted%20Website/Photos/Overhead%20DSCF0020.JPG

When you view via the web your browser will show the pictures because they are on your D:/ drive

remove the d: and I think all should be OK.

you need to do more then remove the D - you need to make the src for each of the images contain a real url on the internet. in this case, you would substitute to the effect of:
        http://vdrummer.no-ip.com/Photos/Ove...20DSCF0020.JPG

        for

        file:///D:/Hosted%20Website/Photos/Overhead%20DSCF0020.JPG

understand the difference? one is a local reference to a file on your computer, the other is an actual URL that my computer understands how to get to. you also have to make sure all of the permissions are properly set.

I knew something wasn't quite right. I kind of thought the photos would be unseen due to the links to my drive.

I will mess around with the site a little later.

          Thanks for your help guys!
