  • Updating Your TDW-1

Hey all, Thanks to everyone here who has shared their experiences dealing with the V Cymbal update on the TDW-1 card. I have also decided to send mine in for the reprograming.

The # for Roland that I used is
1-323-890-3700. The lady I spoke with was quite friendly, and helpfull. All you need to do is call and get a RMA #
    (Return To Manufacture Authorization ?),
then send the card to L.A. California.
If you want they can Next Day it back to you for $10 or so bucks, otherwise it's free shipping back to you.

Man, I can't wait till I get back in town...
I'll have my updated card waiting and then a quick trip to Mars/Guitar Center for some
    CY6's and the Ride !!!!

I'll let you know how it goes.

    Steve.

      Beware Roland customer support.

I just called after my TDW-1 was sitting at Roland for a week. I was told when I called to get my RMA number that it would go out the same day as it came in and that since I wanted express shipment back, they would call me for a credit card number.

So I called to see where the hell it was.

"We are backed up, and don't know when we will get to it."

I replied that their customer service reps should be aware of that, and that I am now without my drums for my weekend/Labor Day series of gigs and that I now have to locate a TDW-1 card somewhere and purchase it. They didn't rightly care. Not at all. They said that Wednesday of next week was the earliest they could send it back.

Love the V's, hate Roland 'commitment' to customers. F*ckers.

OK, the rest of the story. I called Roland back and pushed them to get it out and do a Saturday delivery to me on THEIR NICKLE.

They protested, of course, and said that they should have 48 hours to turn the upgrade around.

I commented flippantly that they had my TDW-1 for 138 hours (I had done the math).

Silence on their end... Then they said they would call me back.

About 15 minutes later a supervisor called me back and said it would be at my home in the morning.

So, if it IS here in the morning, then Roland sucks a little bit less...

            Excellent work!

Sometimes you have to be a little more than just polite to get the job done.

Enjoy the upgrade! (wish I had the coin to upgrade, envious grin ).

Sorry they gave you a hard time man,

It took about a 10 days for Roland to
fix and ship my tdw-1 card.

I installed it, it looks/sounds fine, but I need to do some adjustment on my snare.

Gotta wait till I get the V-Ride and some
cy-6's till I know if I'm happy or not.

                V-Ride is well worth it.

It may feel a little lighter and be a bit more swingy than an acoustic ride (well, it's a lot swingier than my 20" Avedis Zildjian Projection Ride), but the feel and the bell (who uses the edge anyway?) are second to none.

I'm interested by the Hart ride, though...
