A few years back I saw the duo trio, with Pat Mastelotto and Bill Bruford.
                    Unreal.
Fripp, Belew, Levin, Gunn,...lots of sounds coming from stage.
But I think it was more acoustic at the time.

I put that pick up to see who would be the first ddrum guy to mention it. My money was on Putt . Pat pulls out all the stops. What a gear pig .

Pat Masetelotto seems to have a lab for a rig

                          Sweet set up.

Pat's kit is a monster. It used to be an all electronic set, but he's gone back to real cymbals, snare, and bass drums on the most recent US tour. With all the stuff he has, ddrum included, it's hard to tell out of all the sounds he uses which sounds are the V-drums.

Did anyone see Crimson's ProjeKct 2 in concert? I have their "Live Groove" disc, and on it, Adrian Belew plays only V-Pros. I think it gives a clearer example of the V's in a live band. Adrian deliberately uses electric, processed-sounding timbres, which we know the V's provide handily. The track "The Deception of The Thrush" is a nice example of Adrian's use of the electronic V-drum sounds to create a moody piece. Compare it to Pat's version: when Pat plays the song, he plays it much heavier. In this case, both are good, but I prefer Adrian's.

Glad to know you've become a KC convert, MattSDP. I've already seen them at two performances in Denver earlier this year, and look forward to seeing them again next Thursday (8/2/01) in Boulder (a solo show without Tool). Their preformances lately seem to have much more energy than on their THRAK tour, perhaps due to their playing in a smaller configuration in smaller venues, for a more "concentrated" experience. Highly recommended.
