  • FAQ for newbies

Do we need a FAQ for newbies? I am willing to head this project if we do. Let me know what you think and some questions to start with. IE... where did my kits go since I installed my TDW-1?

A FAQ is long overdue. I suggest that you get in contact with the moderators (if you haven't already done so) and see where they are at with it.
Here are my top 20 questions:
    1. Differences between TD-x modules and kits (session, club, pro, custom...)
    2. How to RTFM
    3. Sensitivity settings after installing TDW-1
    4. Monitor options
    5. Splitting inputs is not for newbies
    6. Rack alternatives
    7. Cable management
    8. How to utilise the functions in the 'setup' menu
    9. How not to post Monty Python threads
    10. How to find the best price on a xxx (insert whatever here)
    11. Outboard gear and the Szvook factor
    12. Guide to sorting out the "I am having trouble using 'x' pad with 'y' module" questions
    13. How do I know if I have the v-cymbal upgrade with my TDW-1
    14. Which kick trigger is best (answer = KD-7)
    15. Why doesn't the master out volume work when I split my outputs?
    16. Why is there bleeding between outputs?
    17. How to use the search function
    18. How to get called a troll.
    19. Is there a vkit-trans program for my TD/6/7/8?
    20. Should I buy Mackie or JBL

There are plenty more too. Guys???

    Good luck.

          * Why do my ears suddenly hurt when I hit the black dot in the middle of my PD80/100?
          * Can I make permanent changes to the metronome settings?
          * Why can't I get the rims on the toms to work?

This is something I've been trying to make on my web page for a looong time but I heven't had time to sit down, search for the answers, compile, edit, publish, etc.
You can see the skeleton on www.boismenu.com under vdrums/F.A.Q.
I can start up the project again or help anyone else if you want.
I only have a TD-10 kit and Roland pads [for the time being ] so I'll need help to include anything related to TD-8/6, other pads, etc.
            Pierre.

A glossary of terms would be of great benefit to newbies to help learn the lingo. It would also be invaluable for aiding in searches of this site.

If you could get an e-copy of the manual, you could use it as a framework and reduce the size of the task. Expand it using the faqs collected here and create a large index and definitions section. Also, a section for advanced tweaks and undocumented stuff (i.e. grail, etc) could be added.
