This thread continues where the V-Cymbals Confuse Me thread left off because it went off-topic. bad karma was frustrated at being turned down a position due to e-drums. I partial quote him as follows ..."... just gets so damn frustrating. That term, real drums. Do these look like a *&%# kids toy?
YES! IMHO, to me, todays e-drums do look like toys. When they 1st came out they did not. They looked very sci-fi or, as I put it back then, radical! Why manufacturer's gravitated towards an acoustic look, I'll never know. There's been no big noise from e-guitar players complaining that their rigs don't look like acoustics. I do not see e-keyboard players complaining about their units not resembling a Steinway or Hammond console. E-Bass players seem happy that their rigs do not resemble an upright. Where is the noise from the e-drumming community to make these thing look acoustic coming from? When I 1st joined this forum I clearly declared that I was disatisfied with today's e-drum appearance. To me even my so-called monster-set look like toys next to my 1970 Black Diamond-Pearl 9-piece Ludwigs.
Come on,
-Marc.
