  • td 30 recording on the fly

Hay Guys been a little while since I have been online.

I am wondering how to play to a song from my usb through the td 30 and record my efforts at the same time.
Not recording the actual usb song but just my drum track or rather the feeble attempt.

On my td 9 I could be playing a long to toto's rosanna and then hit the record button on the fly and bingo recordo,, my drum part.
This was great tool because when I'm playing a long I sound totally wicked, but then on play back not so good, like vommit.

The td 9 had a quick record button which was easy but as yet I can not find how to do it on the flag ship td 30 module,,bummer.
I don't mind if its harder to do than the one hit record on the td9, but can it be done?
Any help from bigger brains would be very nice,, Cheers to you all, Leeroy

    Hi Hemi245,

on TD-30 you can't both replay from the USB-stick and record (your drumming pattern) on the USB-stick. (Haven't seen it in the manual, haven't tried it.)

You can replay the music from somewhere else (e.g. using Mix-In) and record patterns on the USB-stick.

You can replay a song from the USB-stick and record (probably both drumming and song) somewhere else.

You can do everything with e.g. a DAW on your computer or with some other recording device.

    Best, Michael

Thanks Micheal for you help. I was was kind of confussed because the td 9 let me record my drum play/ not the usb song as well but just the drum play.
It feels weird trying to type this, but I'll give it ago. I like to play along with the usb mp3's on the td 9 and just when I feeling I'm in the pocket I hit the quick record button, and wham. I'm jeff porcaro.
I thought the td 30 must have this function if the cheaper td 9 had it, but thats for the newbs like me, as the td 30 is for the pro's. Bummer, the quick record was great, I think it recorded to the internal memory I'm not sure but it was way usefull to me,,, anyhow thanks guy.
