  • a quick bass co-ordination ditty

I made up this little 1 bar exercise to work on my kick independance. basically It's an 1/8 note pattern on the hi-hat and then I walk the bass kick across the measure in 1/8 note increments.
so if you have the first measure:

    Hi Hat 8th notes x x x x x x x x
    Kick x

    On measure 2

    Hi Hat 8th notes x x x x x x x x
    Kick x

    On measure 3

    Hi Hat 8th notes x x x x x x x x
    Kick x

and so on up until I bring the kick back to "One"..

If anything it certainly will drill the 8th on the high hat into you head!

anyhow just a tidbit. Is it helping , well I'll know in a week but it seems to be a good co-ordination exercise.

    cheers

OOPS it took my tabs out so I'll try again.

On measure 1 you have the kick on "1"

On measure 2 you have the kick on the "and" of "1"

On measure 3 you have the kick on "2"

On measure 4 you have the kick on "and" of 2

and so on until you rotate the kick back to "1"

hope this explains it , it's basically a walking 8th note bass pattern

    cheers

      Thanks for sharing.

p.s. You can use Courier New font to get the space right.
