  • triggering a sampler

    hello,

Im not a drummer, and I wanted to know if its possible to trigger an akai s2000 from an acoustic drum kit.

I see that there are triggers which go on the drums, but how would you get the midi into an akai s2000?

I dont have a huge budget - what would be a the cheapest way to trigger the s2000 sampler from an acoustic kit?

    thanks,
    reian

You need a trigger to midi interface, also known as a pad to midi interface. I'd buy used if I were you, stand alone interfaces are getting hard to find in this turnkey world of Edrums of late. www.alternatemode.com is one source, if you have gobs of cash. Ebay is a great source for electronic drum stuff. I'll give you a couple of head starts, http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...item=503791040 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...item=500012750 http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...item=500249492 Just run a search on Ebay in musical instruments for pad to midi interface or something like that. I know it can be a pain getting started with all this so ,good luck. Happy hunting.

Hi Reian, Can you give at least an estimate of what you can spend? How many triggers do you want to use? Are you planning on starting/stoping loops? The more info the better. Chuck
