  • 2 brains for more flexibility in recording?

So I have a TD8, and an older TD12, both with only L/R outs. But short of going the midi route, which is not an option at point, I'd like to have a little more control over the individual sounds as I'm going through a console. My thought is to run the TD12 with the bass drum to left, and the snare drum to right, each going to its own track on the recorder. Then the TD will take care of the toms and cymbals. Has anyone ever tried this? Any pitfall you can think of? I may try it in the next few days. But do you thing sending an instrument hard left or right will diminish the sound's volume?
