  • Recording MIDI sequences INTO the SPD30??

Well it looks like I might have come across a very big issue concerning the SPD30.

I've recorded a sequenced Violin part in Cubase but seem completely unable to record the data into the SPD30.

The SPD30 sequences start fine via MIDI clock when I sync Cubase and the SPD30. But when I go into the Phrase Loop and try to record MIDI data, nothing happens.
I already have Part 1 as a Double Bass sound and Part 2 as a Pizzicato that I played manually into it, but even though I've changed the MIDI channel to 1 on the particular kit I'm using (so no other sounds send to it from the the sequencer) it doesn't seem able to record. The sequence plays fine from Cubase when I'm in Kit mode though....

Anybody else ever tried this or found a solution to the SPD30 recording MIDI? And here I was thinking I could just record loads of parts into Cubase and then just re-record them into the SPD or even use MIDI files to send bass lines etc to it....!

      Nope....
It turns out you can't record MIDI into the SPD-30

Bit silly really in the implementation of that....

I wrote to them too about this...ridicolous! It accepts midi notes in kit mode. You can use it the opposite way though and it will send midi notes to the sequencer...probably the best thing to do. It can even send part 1 2 3 on different channels in order to record them (and edit if needed) indipendently while recording the stereo output as a reference. The rest is your imagination
