  • Anybody purchased a Simmons DA200S online?

I've been contemplating getting this amp for a long time. My local GC has one in stock but I can get it cheaper online through MF if I use a gift card I received over the holidays. I've read some reviews where people stated that the packaging wasn't very good. This has me concerned given that the amp would have to be shipped and I can't inspect it beforehand. Have any of you purchased this particular amp online? If so, how well was it packaged? Is there anything I should be concerned about to the point where it's better to pay $50 more and get it at my local GC?

Many including myself in this forum have gotten the same and, with no issues at all, it is one of the best bangs for the buck you can get, enjoy.

PS: guys who know more about this site know better than I, however, no offense, I believe this possibly belongs under the product section, not in the lounge.

Agreed. I wasn't sure where to post this question because I wasn't really asking about the product itself. I just wanted to know how well it was packaged when shipped. There didn't seem to be any one category that this fit in well.

I ordered my DA200S from MusiciansFriend and it arrived with no problems whatsoever.

The issue is that the box is so damn heavy that your delivery guy is going to break-his-back carrying it to your door.

I also buy a lot of stuff from Guitar Center and they have always been willing to match my best online deal. The two are sister-companies and I would be surprised if the store manager would let you walk out of Guitar Center without offering you a deal that would be worth-your-while.

...just ask them politely and explain your concern. If the newbie clerk shrugs his shoulders and claims he can't come close to your best deal, politely ask to talk to the store manager.

Yeah I ordered mine online too. I can't remember exactly where I bought it but it arrived pretty quickly and with no issues at all. The amp is also pretty sturdy itself so it should survive the shipping. I say go for it.

I've got two of the Roland PM-10's that came with my 30K kit. Could I add the DA200s to this mix or is this something that is stand-alone?

I want to have a concert hall in my study!

                    Thanks.
