  • Zildjian Gen16?

I can use any comments, issues or experience you might have about the Gen16's.

In the process of converting an acoustic kit. I have the mesh heads and triggers. Getting a roland module next.

I was thinking about gettting another acoustic cymbal setup until I have can get the Roland Module. But, now I'm thinking should I just get the Gen16 instead, since it has it's own module, and I can play on the acoutic setup for now until I get the Roland module.

I like mine. Take time to at least read about the difference between the Direct Source pickups and the Original ones to see what may suit you most....and don't forget to that the Access Tool will be the key to carving out the sound that you prefer if the "presets" are not what suits your ears. I prefer the DS pickups myself. Have fun.

I've recently switched from triggered converted cymbals to the Gen16. Overall, I like them.....I think. Honestly, I can't get a great gauge on what they sound like because I'm always behind the kit hearing the acoustic pre-processed sound. Of our 3 sound guys, 2 said they sound good.

I love the intricacies of a "real" cymbal. I love the look of them. I really don't dig the propensity for feedback. I'm not sure what the advantages are (aside from the feedback) of the DSP vs the mic pickup. Anyway, enjoy, and happy reading.

Basically just being able to control each individual cymbals tone with no bleed from the other kit pieces....stick noise...or other stage instruments...or anything else in the room.

You will have the sound altered by the vocal-microphones at the very least.
          No stage without mic-bleed....

DSP will eliminate the feedback problem. But you'll need to tweak the settings for them.
