Hi... Im just curious if I ever need to actually replace a metal rim would I need to get one from roland or can I use any standard metal 10" rim for the snare pad that comes with the td-30?

I believe you can still use any steel drum hoops for rim triggering. I also asked about this a while back because I'm not a fan of the black rubber trim on the rims of pads. I thought it would look nicer. Some forum members informed me that not using the rubber wouldn't make a difference and the triggering of the rims should still work fine. They just put the trim on to deaden the stick noise. I always thought putting on a clear rubber trim would look a lot nicer.- EKIT: Jobeky Drums: Custom 5 piece "Lacewood fade" & Hart 13" Pro Chrome snare. ROLAND MG V-CYMBALS

I've been using and including clear rim trim on my Stealth drum and cymbal conversions since 2006:

Hey J, I never saw pics of your clear trim work. Man all I gotta say is WOW! That looks incredible. How long did that trim end up lasting with the abuse? Funny, because the trim on my Hart Snare split apart almost immediately, while I had no issues with the trim on the Roland PD125

Yep...Jerry showed me the light many years ago about clear trim. I prefer it...but i still use black fuel line with black hoops snd lugs. Also the ruel line is a bit softer and gives more rebound.8 piece DIY Acrylic, 2x2Box DrumIt5, Gen16 4xDCP, DIY Acrylic&Gen16 Conversions, Sleishman Twin-QuadSteele hybrid, Gibraltar&DrumFrame rack, DW9502LB, Midi Knights Pro Lighting

I tried to post in this thread several times, but Json forbid it!
Anyway in answer to Greg's comment ... the clear rim trim is a non issue on toms, and on snare I have replaced it a several times over the years, but is essentially a non issue for that too since the price is very reasonable.I could tell you where to stick that piezo! ;)
