Soundfonts layers?

With soundfonts (.sf2) can you assign different waves (instruments) to different velocity ranges?

ex: 1-95 Snare1.wav
96-127 Snare2.wav

What, what, WHAT did I miss??
Snills what is that font on your site and what can you do exactly with it? I understand that its a ddrum sample, but how can you use it with you TD-xx.

Peter, some sound cards in personal computers can hold sound fonts. Next, you can connect a trigger unit to your pc and play with the sounds.

Yes you need a PC with a SBlive, EMU APS, or other soundfont compatible soundcard or software sampler. You load the font into your soundcard, and trigger the sounds through any edrum kit with midi out connected to your PC's\soundcard's midi port.

If I get time some day I'll try and build another ddrum soundfont.

I use a laptop that does not have a sound font compatible sound card.. and I'm curious what type of multitracking software will let you record the midi information and replace that with the soundfont. On practicly every recording thread here everyone reccomends tracking drums as midi data and replacing with real sounds later.. sounds like the way to go... but the replacing later, is that with sound fonts or with midi out from pc -> your drum module/sampler -> audio out -> back to pc to get your sounds? Thanks!
