TD-5 and Dual triggering Hart ECymbals

OK guys another newbie so bare with me. Yes, I have done the search thing. I've been viewing this board for about a month now. You guys are great with sharing your thoughts and information.

I plan on buying the TD-10 but currently have a TD-5. I would like to take full advantage of it until I can save enough $$$ to get the real thing.

That being said, I'm pretty much sold on the Hart kits and would like to know if it is technically possible to use a Y cable to split the 8 stereo inputs on the TD-5 to run the single input pads and an Ecymbal Pro.

I emailed the Hart guys but they haven't answered. Wonder what they're busy with right now?

Does the TD-5 has 8 stereo inputs? I doubt.

It's important that you can assign different sounds (MIDI note numbers) to the drumhead and rim from a pad. That must be done inside the TD-5. Only then you could add some extra mono pads with a split cable

The manual says that they are stereo and it also has a section on how to assign different sounds to the rim vs. the head. What it doesn't say is whether it uses a FSR/Piezo(sp?) or Piezo/Piezo combo. I think I read somewhere that this would decide how and if you could split the inputs.

Stereo usually means piezo/fsr. Two seperate piezos will probably not do it seeing as the TD5 was setup for all rubber pads.

So BtnkBndt, is an acoustic trigger a peizo? I would assume so since it doesn't make sense to choke a trigger. If so, I have the triggers that came with the AT-5. I could get a Y cable and try it out. That would be a fairly low cost test. So do I just go to my local Radio Shack and get a 1/4" stereo Y cable?

It was setup for all rubber pads but was it setup so that you could choke the cymbal sound(FSR)? What is the setup on the PD7 and PD9 pads? The manual talks about needing to use those pads in order to assign different sounds to the rim and head.

Acoustic triggers are piezos, yep.

PD7's and 9's are piezo/fsr. If you just have to check the module run get a two female mono to a single stereo male, this will seperate the stereo input to two individual inputs. Radio Shack probably won't have it, Mars will and they are marked ring and tip, convenient.

Hey I noticed you're in the Dallas area. Do you know of a place I could check out the Hart gear? I know the GC on Spring Valley has the Alesis stuff but no cymbals. Thanks for all the help.

Larry Morgan in Garland at Garland rd. and Miller next to the Dollar store. Don't blink you'll miss it. He has one Hart kit no ecymbals though just the wedge type.

Pintech and Harts kits are sometimes setup at Musicians Headquarters in Balch Springs, Lake June and Hickory Tree.

FYI, not sure if you saw my previous post about the "B-stock TD-10's" @ 8th Street Music for $795. But they are supposedly just cosmeticly blemished and work fine w/full warrenties. I ordered one but am still waiting fo it. If your interested give them a call(they weren't listed on their website) & see if they have any left. Good luck.

No I did not see your previous post. How long ago was it? I'll try them first thing in the AM.

What kind of ETA did they give you?

They had a few in-stock when I ordered it last Friday the 12th so give it a shot. Try and ask for either Randy or Michael, I think Randy said he was the guy who orders the B-stock. Mine would have been here by now but they screwed up on the shipping . But at least it's shipped and should be here Monday the 22nd (*silently prays*). If they don't have any left keep checking back. It is my impression that they get all sorts of "B-stock" stuff in from time to time but don't post it on their website. I'll keep you posted on how it looks(blemishes) and if it works.(That's if I'm not too busy tweaking/playing ). GOOD LUCK & keep us posted!

I called today and the guy I talked to said they did have some but when I asked for a price he put me on hold and forgot about me. I eventually gave up.

He did mention that the guy who normally handles the B-stock was at NAMM. So I'll keep calling back.

I decided to order the Hart pads first. Got to have something to hit! SEP now has my money too.

Ecymbals will be next month if I can't track down that B-Stock deal.

FINALLY!!! My TD-10 is here, after 2 weeks with e-drums and no module. And it looks fine, no blemishes that I can find-not a scratch! Now I just have to wait 7 more hours until I can get home and try it out. I'll keep ya posted.

Congrats! Let us know how the thing really works. 7 hours huh? Man, I think I would start feeling ill and would need to go home early.

Oh Yeah! This is awesome. I absolutely love it! The B-stock TD-10 works flawlessly-what a deal!(can't figure out why it was a "B-stock", not a scratch, mark, etc. The parts were all sealed in their bags all w/the original box too.) If you need one, you should buy it now before there all gone. BTW, my HDI Custom AX works great with the module. Only some minor tweaking and I was off.
