USING A TD5 AS A TMC 6?

Yes you can. Just connect the MIDI out of the TD-5 to the MIDI IN of the TD10. You need to make sure both units are on the same midi channel, and that you do not duplicate midi notes between the two units. The TD-5 trigger properties will be controlled by the TD-5 trigger programming, but the TD-5 drum sounds would be controlled by the TD-10, based on the midi note assigned to your TD-5 inputs. -

No, The TD5 is the only module I know of that doesn't have re-assignable channels for each input, therefore you will not be able to get any new sounds out of your TD10 by connecting the TD5 to it. You will only hear the same snare, toms, cymbal sounds that are assigned to the corresponding snare, tom and cymbal inputs on your TD10.
Like having two of every drum sound. I even called Roland on this one, and they confirmed this limitation of the TD5. Do a search for more info.

True, but you CAN reassign the TD10 inputs, (I think??), so you would have to change the TD10 programming to get it off of the notes that the TD5 is using, But that seems like a lot of work.....
Also, $50 is great for a TD5!! I think the PM16's are running $175-$200 on ebay recently....

Sorry to say, I tried changing TD10 settings too. It's been a while but if I remember, we tried to re-assign the TD10's note numbers to something other than default so the TD5 could trigger the default note numbers as new sounds, but the TD10's note numbers couldn't be changed for the trigger inputs. Roland said they were basically hardwired.
Let me know if you find otherwise...

I tried doing the same with a TD-7. In doing so, I attempted to change note numbers on the TD-10 and I was unable to find a way to do so. I don't think it can be done. The TD-7 triggers allow for note number changes, so it worked out.
If you can't change note numbers on the TD-5 it is useless for the purpose you mention. A TD-7 you can get cheap, plus it has some great sounds and even a sequencer. I wrote a post a few months back detailing how to change note numbers on the TD-7 and assign sounds in the TD-10 so the instructions would be there for you to use. Here's the link:

Hi,
I read almost every thread over here so I can help other people if they need my help or to learn stuff about e-drums and other related subjects. There are much other people who don't respond on all messages, but just read to find out more info on e-drums.
To you typing with Caps may not be intended as shouting, but in general typing with Caps on internet is seen as shouting. As an example; I know certain chatboxes where messages with Caps only text are filtered out always.
You seem offended by my post by telling me I need therapy. I didn't intend to offend you, but I think you got offended because I used caps.
So I ask you politely if you'd be so kind to not use so much Caps on this forum, so everybody can enjoy reading this forum (whether contributing to a certain thread or not).
Greetings,
Pieter
