Is my TD10 getting old?

Hi everyone...
This might be a stupid question ,but I really have no other possibility to verify this...
I've had the td10 for about 3 years now,and it's starting to show weird symptoms:
1-when you change kits,are you supposed to wait like 4 seconds before you actually get sound?...i'm not sure ,but I think it wasn't always like that.
2-whenever I turn it on,the first kit it displays is always the same(and not the last one I used) now I am sure this IS unusual.
This machine is the only good thing going on in my life,so if it's dying,please let me know ,someone?

in those 3 years how many times have you re-initialized the unit?

FWIW - I've had alot of gear last me for years and years. Come to think of it, the only time any of my gear has died is when I either broke it or pushed it beyond design parameters. Although there have been certain devices that tended to go on sabbaticals. Just as I was about to toss it, I'd give it a slap, put on the juice and presto! It's alive, it's alive!

Electrons ..... go figure.

Like Marc I also think you have to re-initialize your TD-10.
Someone else on this Forum has the same problem that you described in your second point. For him re-initializing did do the trick. I think that you already know this, but you will loose your personal settings.

So you think there is something wrong after all...but re-initialize???I've never done that (Marc). Do you really think it's the only way ? will it work for sure? cause otherwise,it's not worth losing all the settings I've been working on for years...God! they don't even sell memory cards in this f#@#&n country ...HELP!!!

You can also make a memory dump via(is 'via' a proper English word?) MIDI to a PC and then re-initialize.

Your battery my be giving up the ghost also. The kit going to a certian kit all the time happen to me after I was trying out some foot switchs to see if they would work. I messed something up in the settings but all is better now.

You're good. Silly me, I 4got this thing had a battery! Yeah - low batteries play all kinds of strangeness with electronical type thingies.

Anyway ,can anyone tell me how long it takes to change kits on their td10? (is sound transmission interrupted at all?)

P. Do you have a manual? What I can remember is that you can change it within a few minutes without loosing your settings, but I'm not sure. Anyone else?

Changing kits takes no time at all on my td-10 and there is no sound loss if that's what you mean. Sorry, but changing battery what Ted say's and/or re-initialize is probably the only option you have.

There is an interruption of sound transmission when jumping to a kit of vastly different effects and settings. For example if I am playing on a kit with no reverb and switch to a kit with HUGE amounts of reverb, compression and EQ, it takes a while for the onboard processors to catch up - hence an interuption of sound transmission. It is not usually long though (maybe a couple of seconds).
The fact that your kit reverts back to the same kit after shutdown will almost definately be fixed by re-initialising the unit.
It wouldn't hurt to change the battery too. If you are going to reinitialise then you have nothing to lose by replacing the battery.
