Well, it's here, like it or not, but I can't decide whether that's a good or bad thing.....
I just ordered a new computer that's shipping with XP preloaded (my choice)--my logic being that if XP turns out to be a bust initially then I'll just go back to my previous OS (Windows '98). One of the things that made me decide to do this was that Microsoft was pushing the idea that XP was going to be a big improvement for specific applications, digital audio being one of them.
That being the case, I figured I'd lurk in some recording software forums to see what the buzz was from people that were already using XP. My own recording software is Cakewalk 9.03, Vegas Audio/Video, Cool Edit Pro 1.2, and Logic Audio Platinum 4.7, but so far the only substantial feedback I've been getting is from Syntrillium's Cool Edit Pro forum, where the like it/launch it ratio seems to be running about 50/50. Not encouraging news...
Are any of you guys having any luck with Windows XP in the digital recording realm? I'd sure appreciate your thoughts and opinions. And as much as I hate to sound dense about this, would someone please be so kind as to steer me in the direction of any good user forums for Cake, Vegas, and Logic? I haven't had much luck so far searching for them myself. Also, if anyone knows where to download any new XP-related software upgrades for any of these recording packages, that would be much appreciated as well.
Thanks, fellas. Waiting to hear your thoughts.......
300!! That'll be a whiskey sour with an extra cherry, please....
