Are you talking about splitting the 1/2 input?

Yeah, need a clearer question. Are you trying to split the input to use the rim sound and the head sound? What module? What pads will you be using? (i.e. KD-X and CY-X) All would be helpful in helping you.

yes I am trying to split the input to use the rim sound and the head sound. I am using the kd 7 and want to split the line and use a pd 9 to use another. If you know what I am doing from the kd 7. can this be done ? or am I going down the wrong road.

Yes you can do this, but you need to do a couple of things first.

          Option 1

          1) Under trigger settings, change your trigger to a PD 9.

          2) Obtain a stereo splitter, (headphone splitter from Radio shack)

          4) Connect the PD 9 and the KD 7 to the connector

          5) Change the rim sound to the sound you want.

Note: You will be able to get your chime or what ever from the PD 9 rim, if you hit the main pad, you get a kick drum.

          Option 2:

          1) From tapeswitch.com, purchase a TP-4

          2) Purchase a cymbal from visu-lite

          3) Modify the connection by wiring the TP-4 ring to sleeve, and tape the TP-4 on top of the cymbal.

          4) Change the trigger type to PD 9

          5) Purchase the stereo splitter

          6) Connect the modified cymbal and the KD 9 to the stereo connector.

          7) Change the rim sound to the desired sound.

          8) Striking the cymbal on the TP-4 triggers the rim sound.

          Good Luck.

Isn't this accomplished using an insert cable in aux 1/2? I have this cable run to a KD-7 and a dingbat to use for the chime/tamborine/mark tree.

What I posted was for input 1 or the kick input. You cannot use an insert cable on that input. Also, I am using a TD-10, not sure if that makes any difference.

Im not sure which module your using, but I have a td-10 and I dont think the "hh ctrl" input can be used as any other input in which you could trigger a head and rim sound. In fact when I step on my fd-7 all it does is trigger the head sound of my hh(but slightly differently of course). The td-10 is advertised as having "12 dual inputs". The "hh ctrl" being a little bonus from roland. I'm happy that the kd-7 doesnt require one of the standard inputs. Try to be a bit more specific in your question. If your not using the rim input of any other channel do the following:
                    1. Buy a 1/4 stereo headphone splitter.

                    2. Change that inputs trigger settngs to
                    pd-9B

This will allow you to trigger chimes/tambourines/stc on the rim input and your other pad will not be affected.
                    good luck!

I'm still waiting for all the details, module being one of the main things still missing. I'm loathe to go into the whole shacking thing, but would try to give a simplified answer once all the pieces of the puzzle are on the table. So far I see KD-7 presumably plugged into the correct kick input on an unknown, presumably Roland? module? Want to split the input and use the head sound for the kick (I'm guessing) and the rim sound to trigger a chime sound when a PD9 is struck? If all that is correct, please fill in the module. If different pads or inputs are involved, we'll need that clarified too. (Some pads are piezo piezo, some are piezo fsr, etc., etc.).

drumlogic is right, feefer is the man on this, but at some effort, he retired himself from repeating this stuff over and over a while back. Post all the facts, and someone can likely answer. There are a few jedi who grasped the way of the shack and the grail.

(On an almost related note, I'm told that back at my studio currently awaits me, an actual genuine feefer Y-cable! A piece of genuine V-drums.com nostalgia. No autograph I'm told, but authentic nonetheless. Thanks, feefer.)

                          Cool.

Do you know which inputs on the TD-10 are piezo-piezo and which are FSR?

If I'm following you correctly, We can use a headphone splitter for the piezo-piezos only right?

Wrong. There is much more to it than that.

Well, here we are again kiddies. Discussing possible 'grailing' and 'shacking' principles. Just when we have a few months away from it, it returns to bite us in the butt.
Needless to say, asking ambigous questions and expecting articulate detailed responses is hardly helpful.
As many users have done it may be an idea to place your module and kit configuration in your profile area (see left). This will help to narrow down these sort of problems.
Looking forward to answering those questions for you!
