  • Wheres the pure bell tweak?

    Hi Yal,

    I need your help.

I have setup my CY-15R up per the manual for simultaneous triple sensing (edge/bow/bell). However, I have to beat the hell out the bell to insure that it is the only sound triggered. In other words, the bow sound is played instead of the bell when striking the bell. Not at all like my acoustic cymbals. I tried to see if I could tweak the settings but there seems non-available for the bell/bow. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Mark

You could start by looking here. Lot's of folks have had the problem you describe and have fixed it... but hold onto your hat, my friend... it isn't a 'tweek'.

              Only five minute....it's tempting...then I don't have to wait for the TMC-6

Here's the origional tweak page in case you need it...

It's very easy, just remember not to remove the whole skin...

                      LOL....
I think you've been watching to many Hannibal movies.

Yeah, it just wouldn't be the same if you pull that skin completely off...

                        Hi all

Perhaps you have found something significant here.

How come the bell works perfect if using the TMC-6? Isn't it just a kind of interface? Do you think it is just a matter of simple electronic impedence, etc. As if the TMC-6 "read" the cymbal data with a different trigger (bank) profile or something? Is it because of a MIDI translation?

-> What is different about the signal arriving from the TMC-6 as opposed to the the signal from the cymbal bell itself? Has it amplified the bell signal, so now the module recognizes it as a higher volume, etc?

Excuse me if you have all already covered this on another thread.

                            Hi Mark,

I did the CY-15R bell fix, and didn't need to glue the rubber skin back on. I started at the back of the cymbal and slowly peeled off *just* enough to get some electrical tape on top of the bell FSR. So most of the cymbal (and most importantly, the part in the front where I'm striking it) still has its original glue intact.

                              Thanks, Feef

You are certainly correct in pointing out that I haven't got the foggiest idea what I am talking about when it comes to electronics, especially when it comes to the V-drums.

However, Albator wrote clearly that the his cymbal bell worked perfectly when he ran it through his TMC-6, but poorly when hooked directly to his module.

If the problem with the bell was purely mechanical, how could it have worked perfectly with the TMC-6?
