  • Crosstalk between pads/V-Cymbals

Hi guys...I.m having trouble between HiHat V cymbal and 1st crash. I have moved the cras to first wrung(SP) on front of rack and eliminated it but now toms cause a problem. I have mounts correct in setup. I guess I need to move them to conventional cymbal stands? Anybody else have some ideas..I'd like to keep all on the rack--it looks better to me. Thoughts? Ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi eclein

Have you tried the usual crosstalk, threshold, sensitivity settings changes to eliminate crosstalk?

It is VERY unusual to have crosstalk problems which cannot be addressed easily this way when you use the Roland rack, although you can see the problem more frequently with kits using Gibralter racks.

The only other factor which can interrupt this equation is if the rack is on a very hard, or a very unstable platform. If you have your rack on a typical floor on a piece of carpetting, as most folks do, the settings changes should do the trick.

I tried the cross talk settings which helped a bit, being new I'm not sure exactly what everything does yet. I know basics from the manuals but practical use is different. I made sure mounts where selected properly, I made sure I hiked up the crosstalk settings. The others you mentioned I haven't screwed with. I have my rack on carpet (shouldn't transmit vibrations). Tell me if you don't mind about the other 2 and what I should do. The problem is between HiHat and first crash on left (I have it setup like the pictures you see...basic. I have separate cymbal boom I can use and may do that. Then I set the cymbal mount as separate correct??
      Thanks Ed

If you have the cymbal arms mounted on the upper rack bar with the toms you might try placing them on the lower bar and extending the cymbal arms some. This worked for me and I didn't have to make adjustments that can cost you a little in sensitivity. The only drawback is you can't get your cymbals as high. That was not a problem for me as I like a compact set-up.

Thats what I did and like you I like em kinda low and it seems to be working fine so far. I kicked them for 45 minutes today at lunch and didn't have any crosstalk that I was aware of. Thanks for the idea...sometimes great ideas are right in front of us and we miss them...an easy solution. Thanks again.

While I'm at it, tell me about sensitivity, I don't seem to be able to make the bell sound on the 3 way triggered ride without really clanging it. I tried lowering sensitivity...how low should I go?
What do all the options mean in that area?

This is a long thread but Feefer put together a lot of info on settings. They are spread out over several posts.

I think there are other posts with pics of how to modify your cymbal to improve sensitivity of the bell. Search on vcymbal control and similar.
