I use the CY-12RC for hi-hat, and it works pretty good for this purpose. However it doesn't feel as good to play as the CY-15R due to the smaller bow area. The CY-12RC doesn't have the rebound that the CY-15R has, and it doesn't trigger quite as well on very light strokes, but for the most part it works fine as a hat.Roland TD-20 v1.08, various v-drums and v-cymbals, Yamaha KP65's, Axis pedals, Gibraltar hardware, Mackie 1202/SRM450 (pre-china) -

I owned a CY-12H for a few months but I ended up selling it. Playing feel was OK, similar to the CY-12RC, but again not quite as nice to play as the CY-15R. (The CY-12H is also ugly IMO, but that's besides the point.) The show-stopping problem with the CY-12H was that it would completely ignore light and/or rapid strokes (with my TD-8), and I found this unacceptable. The CY-12RC is better in this respect, but still not ideal. The CY-15R, on the other hand, picks up just about anything my hands can throw at it.
NOTE: The TD-8 OS has been updated since I tried the CY-12H/TD-8 match, and people say it triggers better if you have the update. But I am satisfied with the CY-12RC for now.Roland TD-20 v1.08, various v-drums and v-cymbals, Yamaha KP65's, Axis pedals, Gibraltar hardware, Mackie 1202/SRM450 (pre-china)Comment
