  • Master EQ Settings

Hi V Drummers, I'm new to the forum. I've had my V Pro set for about a year now and really love it. In fact I probably play it about 70% of the time compared to my accoustic drums. I have been using a KC 300 up until about a week ago then it just crashed. Fortunately it's under warranty. After reading forum comments and trying different amp/speakers I got a EON 15 G2.
Sound is great and I don't think I'm as likely to blow out the 15. But to the point of my question (You thought I'd never get there!" I've read various threads on EQing the sound but I havent found one on settings for the Master EQ. Does anyone have thoughts or suggestions on some default settings for the Master EQ? I prefer to turn off the individual kit EQ and use the Master, then do the fine tuning with the amp EQ. I would like hear peoples experience with the Master EQ settings.

    Thanks!

    Hi Rick:

The Master EQ settings that you are looking for come with the TDW-1 card. If you don't have it yet I would look into it. It was well worth the money IMHO.

Thanks, HeavyD, Yeah, I have an expanded TD-10. I was looking for some tips on where to set the Low, Mid, & High EQ settings, you know some starting points. I have a series of user modified "Gig" kits that are all close, Ie, same toms and cymbals, but I use a #102 accoustic snare that I change the parameters on in each kit.

        Hey Rick:

Sorry about that I miss read your first post. You do bring up an interesting idea that has crossed my mind a few times though, and that is just blowing away the existing junk on my TD-10 and starting over cold. Maybe builing a base colection of sets and then adding others that were just variations on the fisrt few. But... there are only s many hours in a day.

I am glad I am not the only one that uses this setting. I find it to be the best of all and tweek it for different kits...

Jeff, yeah you know with all the snare samples there are in the expanded TD-10 I still find it's the one that sounds the best to me. I make variations in the sound by changing shell type and depth, head type, tuning, and ambience. There are a couple of snares in the TD-5 I'd like to have in the TD-10 though.

            Thanks

My philosophy is to set up my kits tweaking each pad's EQ to sound good on the equipment I use most and use the M-EQ to adjust for differences when I change equipment or if there's a major difference in the room size or acoustics. This usually works.

Adjusting the M-EQ or the amp EQ attempts to adjust the sound for all pads with one setting. I don't think I could ever manage to tweak an entire kit like this. I have one snare with a condenser mic, boosted compression and a lot of high end EQ. The high end EQ for this snare could never be accomplished adjusting M or Amp EQ without trashing the cymbals and tom's. If you get the sound you want this way and you're happy, then I'm happy too, but it wouldn't work for me.
Kit Pic 1 Kit Pic 2 Kit Pic 3... And FOR SALE I have: 3 PD-9's, MDS-10 purple rack w/cables/pad and cym mounts. See classified posts for details or PM me.
