  • KD-120 with TD-9KX (problems)

    Hi All,

This is my first post. I just bought a KD-120 (V-kick pad) for use with my TD-9KX. It seems to me that the sensor only seems to work at the top of the pad. I tap the mesh near the top and get good response. I tap at 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock and don't get much. I tap at 6 o'clock and get nothing. I'm using a Tama Iron Cobra double pedal and it feels like I have to play hard in comparison to the other pads. Is this normal, or are the sensors on my new KD-120 not working?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jay

Have you set the kick pad type to KD120 (page 46 in the manual.)

Hi and thanks for your response. No, I had not done that. After changing the trigger type, I didn't see much change. However, I found some other paramaters thanks to your reply. When I change the sensitivity and threshold it makes the pad more playable. Still, it seems odd to me that the sensitivity of the pad is limited to the very top (12 o'clock) on the pad and the further away you get from this spot, the quieter the response is. This is the location where the jack is attached. Can anybody with a TD-20 tell me if their KD120 behaves like this? I'm not sure if I should return it or not.

The sensor is at the top and some others have had similar volume issues:
