Can anyone recommend a good set of sample cds for the SPDS pads?

    Hi havyck,

There is a CD that comes with the SPD-S that apparently has samples on it.... I didn't get the CD with my 2nd hand SPD-S so I can't tell you exactly what's on it but you can purchase it from Roland....

There is a series of CDs available from M-Audio (orchestra, brass, percussion etc) that you can purchase - fairly pricey though.....

There are also a number of sites where you can download samples - I can look them up for you tomorrow when I'm back at my studio if no-one else helps you out.

Or, if you have a list of the samples you are after I know someone ;-) who can create a custom CD for a reasonable rate......

Yeah, I know there's stuff out there. I was just wondering if anyone bought a set or a cd that was particularly good. I have a few in mind. I'm looking for drum kit samples and maybe even some hip hop kits and sound effects.

In addition to the Roland Cd, I picked up SampleHeads - NYC Percussionworks.
Good stuff. But I ran some of the sounds through Adobe Audition before moving them to the SPD-S. I can't recall if I used the CD directly into the SPD-S like the Roland cd. Anyway...it's a 2 Cd package for less than $50 - lots of percussion choices. Get the "Audio" version but verify the format if you want to run it directly into the SPD-S.

I have a killer set of Clown Noises and Cartoon Sound Effects. If that is what you are looking for? No? I didn't think so.

I have actually purchased samples from Big Fish and they are quite nice.

But I mostly have weird stuff.

I just rip samples from videos in Sonar then export out the wav's for live stuff. Also the Sony Pictures Series stuff is pretty nice. A lot of useless stuff (for me anyways) is in it though.

There is a site that has a good 50,000+ loops, wav's, effects, etc. in pretty good quality somewhere online, I can't remember exactly. Just search "free sound effects" in Yahoo and it's one of the most professional ones you'll find on there too.
