  • Bass Drum conversions

Hey guys. I did a search for this topic, but didn't get the results I am looking for. This V-drum stuff is a whole new world to me, but it appears that it's possible to use an acoustic bass drum with a TD-6V? Earlier I posted that I was having trouble with my Iron Cobras on my KD-8, actually it was someone else's post and I jumped in. Anyway, how is the acoustic bass drum work with V-drums? Do I just somehow affix the KD-8 pad to a bass drum and go?

sorry if this has been covered already. If it haas and you know where that thread is, please forward.

    thanks.
I could be the Walrus, but I'd still have to bum rides from people.

Im a little confused about what you are asking, but you can convert any acoustic kit to a electronic kit, by putting "triggers" on each drum/cymbal,
but pintech makes a conversion kit to convert any acoustic drum kit to an electronic kit...

What the Pintech stuff does if give you replacement heads with rim and trigger built in replacing your existing ones and then you can plug them into the module just like a normal vdrum kit

Thats pretty much the cheapest route you can go as well if you already own an acoustic kit

Thanks Drumman. I guess what I'm getting at is that I want to use an acoustic bass drum for my V-kit. I think it'll look better than having my KD-8. Having a big bass drum has certain 'stage presence'.

So, if that were my goal, how would I utilize an acoustic bass drum?

        misterzero,

I purchased a 16" acoustic drum and installed a Pintech trigger w/bar. Of course you could also go the DIY route and create your own trigger bar w/piezo and foam.

Close-up of Pintech trigger attached to the lug nuts.

Final product with purple sparkle wrap from JamminSam and Hart meshheads.
        TD-20exp module/TD-10exp * VH-12 hh * Gibraltar hh stand * 4 Hart Hammers * 2-22" kicks w/Pintech triggers & Blastech mesh * 1-14" snare w/Pintech triggers & Hart mesh *2-10", 2-12" & 2-14" roto toms w/Quartz triggers & Hart mesh * 7 PCY-150 cymbals

Thanks drumman8524 and Fig Newton. I recently downsized from this red Pintech kit to a more acoustic-looking purple sparkle one (14" snare, 12" mounted tom, 2-14" floor toms and 2-16" kicks).

                  Where to buy?

Can you point us to a link of where to buy just the kick conversion kit? Using The link in this thread I could only see where they sold a whole kit conversion.

                  Thanks in advance!

im not sure pintech sells it individually...

This is the closest thing i see individually pieced on the website that's close to what you are looking for:

I hope that helps you..i know pintech does make custom stuff though or make exceptions for almost anyone

thats why i say call the website listed and they should be able to find out for you.

Thanks Diz and misterzero. Here's the Pintech site for the trigger bars w/piezo and foam. However, I would contact "Lorrie" at Pintech first and tell her what your interested in. She has on several occassions given me a much better price than what's listed on the site. WW

This website is for sale! pintechworld.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, pintechworld.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

I use Jman's kick trigger set up and have had no problems at all with the kick. It is simple and easy to install.
