    I agree. Speed without control is just chaos.
    My recommendation is to start slow and build your skills. Then the tension will not matter as much.

    Very much personal preference again here. The tighter the quicker the return, but the harder to press faster. It's all down to your technique to be honest. Speed isn't too hard really, but evenness is a different game all together.

    Bass Drum Pedal Question from Irish Drummer

    I am using a Pearl P-900 pedal with my TD9 kit. As a novice can anybody help me with regarding to the type of tension I should be using??
    I really need to work on my bass drum doubles to achieve some speed and evenness. Should I have the pedal set up for tension really tight or slack??
    Would once again appreciate any help from the group.
