  • PD-105 vs. PD-125 regarding "hotspot" issues?

I've read some people complaints that there is a hotspot right over the trigger on the PD-125 (perhaps when using a TD-20 or TD-12 module?)

Does the PD-105 possibly do better in this regard (have less of a hotspot issue)?

Also, if you know, did the TD-10 and TD-8 modules have the same issue [with a hotspot on the big snare pad]?

The TD-10 has the hot spot. I can't remember if any TD-8 users have complained about this. Probably, I just don't remember.

Keep in mind that if you follow the settings laid out by gingerbaker and myself (even if you have to make allowances for a different module), you'll get rid of the hot spot.

Ok, thanks. Do you have a link to that info and/or thread, or can you tell me a good search term to try (for the settings that gingerbaker and yourself have been using?)

Search in the username using "grog" and in the name/term "hotspot".

That being said, in those various threads, the two most useful conversations exist in:

        and

The first link has EIGHT pages to it. Don't be daunted by the length. There's also a lot of discussion in there about compression and other details that you may or may not find immediately helpful. Go to page 4. There you'll see GB's settings. Then you'll see mine listed right alongside his. Back on page 3, another member lists his settings. These should get you close. And the other discussions going on in that thread will probably help you solve the rest.

The second link talks about one user's other approach to this same issue.

I really need to do the "Ultimate Hot Spot" sticky.

Thanks, Grog. I don't have the TD-12 or PD-105 yet (still have a TD-3 and PD-85 snare), but this will be a great reasource when I get my new setup (hopefully within a week or two).
