LONG TERM EFFECTS ON USING Y-CABLES??

If I go ahead and add a few more cymbals by using y-cables to give me more outputs--has anybody ever experienced the long term effects on the module itself, after expanding like this??? Does roland them selves suggest maybe not doing something like this??? thank you --laters--

Roland actually sells a y-cable called the PCY-31 (single male stereo -> double female mono) for splitting your dual inputs (like KICK 1/2 or AUX 11/12). But like any Roland product, it's ridiculously overpriced. You can find cheaper ones at music stores. The module is designed to do this so you don't have to worry about damaging it. As for "shacking" and "grailing" your module, I don't think that could damage it either. All you're really doing is tricking the module into accepting a different input signal of the same general type (but don't quote me on that). Now, plugging an electric guitar into one of your pad inputs would probably be a bad thing...

Thank you all for the support--FEFFER, are you using this technique right now on your system, I have been using these pads for quite a few years, but Ive always treated them like a baby, Your information is really important to me, and I will expand these inputs--Is this ROLAND PCY-31 easy to find or is there any other Y-cables you might suggest?? laters

I've read most of your threads on expanding inputs and cabling techniques. Thanks tons for your contributions and your patience with so many of us.

I have a TD-10Ex and have all inputs filled with the normal V-Session setup including the V-cymbals and I have added a CY-6 to fill out the one remaining AUX input.

I would like to add some sort of percussion trigger in front of the toms (over the kick) sort of in the common place for a cowbell, etc. I would use the rim sound on the KD-120 to accomplish this with Y-cabling. I was wondering if you know specifically of a stick type (or other) utility pad that has been tried in conjunction with a KD-120 so that I can rule out incompatibility before purchasing something that won't work well. I'd prefer something other than a round pad for several reasons (space, mounting, aesthetics) but could go that route as an alternative.

Ideally, I would like to have the kick produce its normal assigned sound, and the utility pad trigger whatever I assign to the rim. I don't want velocity switching or anything more than that (although I may experiment with that down the road). Any recommendations?

Anyone splitting their KD-120 on a TD-10Ex with good results, I'd like to hear from you as well.

I have used the mix in for guitar from the amps headphone out then split headphones on td-10 for both of us for quiet practice...works quite well.......
