Is it possible to assign a pad on the spd-s to go to a patch?

You can set a pad (or foot switch) to go to the next or previous patch, but it's a global setting so it will apply in every patch. If that's what you want to do; use SETUP, CONTROL SW, hit a pad (or use shift with the page buttons until the pad indicator you want is flashing), then select PATCH + or PATCH -.
