Practice and train with cheap set?

Well its me again with another cheep question So I have decided to get a Roland TD-3 or TD-9 but I am going to wait till black friday sales in a month or maybe even until christmas if I can not find a good sale on black friday.

So now to my question, is it alright to practice on a cheep set until I get my real set??? I mean like a $70 toys r us set. Or is there some other way for me to practice before I get my roland like maybe a rubber practice set(if there is such a thing)?? I am not worried about high-quality sound I just want to practice my techniques with my wrist, arms and sticks I am not worried about making beautiful sounds. Or would it be wise for me to just hold off and wait till I get my roland set??

assuming you dont want to buy a roland rmp practice pad...there are other acoustic practice pads available, or just use a phone book...or coffee tins, the back of a seat....any time you spend banging things is time well spent! you wont 'ruin' anything (except the phone book and the nerves of those around you) by hitting objects! but cheap electronic sets are probably not worth the bother....

I like that RPM practice pad, I think that I might just have to get one. And stuff like phone books is what I have been using so far So if it wont hurt my playing when I get a real set I think I will just stick with a phonebook

Get yourself a cheap metronome and use it regardless of what you are bashing.
