TD20 brush setting

I changed from sticks to brush on the setting and the only thing I notice is brush is a db or 2 louder. I don't hear any change in tone. Am I missing something ? I'm playing with sticks at soft to loud volumes.

Since it's just a sample being played back, I would not expect you would hear much difference. There should be enough sensitivity that dragging the brush creates some response. I played with this option a bit on my TD20 and didn't feel it offered enough expresssiveness to make it worthwhile, to be honest.

Choosing 107 HotRod S/108 HotRod SR snares seems to help.

Changing the setting from sticks to brush only increases sensitivity so you can play with brushes and still get response. You still have to assign the brush sounds to the pads in the kit. They are already assigned that way on the preset brush kit (#10 i think).

Thanks but I don't notice any sensitivity improvement other than louder. Playing soft with sticks or flexi sticks makes the same sound just louder when i pick brushes. And this is at any level of playing. So maybe I'm missing something. hmm

That's what increased sensitivity does; makes louder sounds: "Higher sensitivity allows the pad to produce a loud volume even when played softly."
