  • ZZsounds, are they decent?

    Hi,
I want to order some things online as I dont have time to source everything locally before the end of the month right now. Has anyone ordered from ZZSounds? Are they relatively good, and do they ship fast?

    thanks!

I have bought things from them. They are as fast and reliable as most online stores. Damned with faint praise, I know, but you will get what you order.

I ordered my td-9 module from them. They price match so the lowest price I found on the net, they beat it by 10%. I ordered from them on a Friday and didn't expect to get my module until that Tuesday. It actually came that Monday afternoon. So yes I would reccomend them highly.

Will they price match an email quote from another retailer or only a price advertised in a print advertisement or on the web?

Well, I was on the phone with the customer service rep at the time of my order. When I asked her if she would price match she told me to give her the website address. You could call them and ask if they would honor an email quote but I doubt it. They won't honor buy it now prices on e-bay or anything like that either.

I used them a couple of times before...never had any problems. They're prices are usually the same as MusiciansFriend or Music123 (who I can't stand BTW -- Music123 blows). If you want good prices AND great customer service, always look to RMCAudio...just sayin'.

Zzounds also has a "Play as you pay" deal that divides anything over $395 into four equal payments/months on your credit card. Good deal if you know you'll have the funds and don't want to wait.

                      another great online retailer

                      www.AmericanMusical.com

I've been ordering from them FOREVER, and they always, ALWAYS have something in stock if it says it's in stock... and their customer support is fantastic.

The best part is they do a 3-payment plan with no interest for orders $250-1000. Over $1000 they require credit approval for their 5-month no interest plan, but it's pretty easy to get approved as long as your credit is not atrocious.

American Musical Supply is how I funded my TD12 module. I finally finished paying it off this week (soooooo glad I got it, too).

Over the course of 2008, with my severe GAS attack, I was able to get everything I wanted... that payment plan is truly incredible.

It sounds like I work for them, but I don't. They're a great company more people should order from.

Also, +1 for zzounds.com - stay away from Musician's Friend (aka Guitarcenter.com, which is closing a lot of their stores), and Music123... terrible.

Zzounds, Samedaymusic.com and americanmusical.com get my vote... also www.audiomidi.com who go above and beyond the call of duty re: customer service, even though their selection is definitely geared toward the computer recording market... I got my Superior 2.0 upgrade for only $120, with free priority mail shipping from them.

Whats wrong with Music123? I found their customer support to be pretty damm good. When I submit a question through their website I usually get an answer in an hour or two. That's pretty good response for email IMO.

My problem with them is that I would order something they said was in stock and WAY too many times my order would be missing items with a note saying that it was backordered...so sorry. I don't mind getting things backordered, but damn, update your website, let me know on my order confirmation... just something to tell me ahead of time. Don't get me all expectant of receiving ALL my order then slip in the little note saying well, you've paid for it but you have to wait. What if I needed the item NOW? It makes me think they do that on purpose so that you won't go to another source, which smacks of shady business practice. This has happened at least three times and after the last time, I haven't bothered with them. That was a couple years ago. Maybe they've gotten better.
