  • TD20 to B52 Matrix 2000 problem

I will start with letting you all know I am An Idiot, but anyway here goes....

I just got back from a weekend of a 22 hour road trip with my brand new B52 Matrix 2000 1200 Watt beast and hooked up the following....

From the TD20 I hooked up a 1/4" (MALE) to XLR (MALE) to a patch XLR cable and then into the INPUT of the L Input of the B52

Then repeating for the RIGHT side MAIN out of the TD20 I hooked up a 1/4" (MALE) to XLR (MALE) to a patch XLR cable and then into the INPUT of the R Input of the B52

It sounds really bad, and muffled............ What am I doing wrong???? Please Help me!!

That should work. You hadn't previously been using direct outputs and routed instruments away from the master outputs? I wonder if you're getting just ambience and effects. Check SETUP, OUTPUT, MASTER (for L and R from all 15 inputs).

      Thanks Bart,

I do not know what I did other than do a factory reset on the TD20, and all is Very Good and LOUD Now!!! Thanks a bundle!!

Pictures on the way.... as soon as the Wife quits hammering me about the Size of the Matrix 2000, I will set up the rest of my acoustic cymbals and all my other gear for the pics. Studio in the basement is only partly complete. No room for my gear yet as it is far too dusty and dirty for all my toys.

      Thanks again Bart!

        unit review?

Hi, can you give us a review and your impression of the B-52 system? I've been considering this as well and would appreciate yet-another-opinion. Not so much interested in size/weight, but in how the drums sound through the cabinets and how you have them setup. Also, are you happy with them or in hindsight would you go with something else next time?

        Thanks,
        Jon

Jon, I can`t commet on the B-52 2000, but I can on the B-52 1000v2. I t rocks, the drums feel and sound real good thru the little system. The bass player felt the air pressure from the port and said it felt like a real kick drum when he stood in front of it. This system will played loud and sound great doing it, best 900.00 I`ve spent. I use behringer 1204 mixer and use all the direct outs on the TD-20. I bought this system after hearing some JBL`s and owning a Bose L1 system with six B1 subs. Best system [B-52] I had yet for my drums, IN SOUND QUALITY AND LOUDNESS. Greg

            B-52

            hi guys,

I'll get my B-52 1000v2 tomorrow - can't wait . As a newbie, please give me a few inputs for the best setup:

            A) where do you place the satellites in your practice room ? in front of you / behind you or left and right of you ??

            B) I have my notebook, a CD player, the TV/DVD output and a Bose DR-880 connected to a 16-line Yamaha mixer. the output goes into the mix-in of the TD-20.
The TD-20 plus mix-in goes to the phones out right now. I wasn't using monitors before, only my Sony headphones.

what is the best practical way to set up the monitors ??
Thanks for you help!! I appreciate it!
