Sounds good, but how about positional sensing on snare and toms, for who use the TD-20?

Gteps - How do you find the module with your Jobeky pads. I'm looking to upgrade my TD3 but leaning towards the 12 because i'm unsure of spending so much on such old technology. I don't really have the money for a 12 but could force myself. Do you find the 8 is enough? What are its downfalls?

Hi Dannyw,

I find the TD8 an excellent bit of kit that works very well with the Jobeky products, I have the VEX kits installed and it tranforms the original module to another level.
It has good expansion options with regards to additional outputs, I'm currently using:
One Dual Zone Snare, Four Single Zone Toms, One Kick Pad, One Single Zone Crash, One Dual Zone Crash, One Dual Zone Ride and Hi-Hat, with the option to use a splitter on the Kick / Aux outputs.

As yet I have found no problems and it performs well in all the areas that I need.

Sometimes the TD8 Positional Sensing capabilities are very poor and one can think they are getting it when they are actually not. Newer technology is more expensive but you do get what you pay for. The TD12 has the same sound engine as the 20 and with a V expression pack added it's totally fantastic and it even takes a while to get used to the more realistic tom and cymbal textures, it's a wow factor. Increased sensitivity on hits and better rim shots are also a feature.

Question: What is Positional Sensing? Are you getting it?
Answer: When you strike the snare drum in the very centre you get a solid snare sound, if you then make a strike about half way to the edge you get a very definate ringy sound that emulates a real snare with it's varied timbres. You should notice the difference is like night and day. It's a prominent difference in sound and is highly enjoyable if achieved, adding extra realism to accents etc.

This feature is A1 on my TD12 and my own home made pads.

Also before you upgrade to a TD12 make sure that your drum supports Positional Sensing, i believe some of Jobeky drums are set up for Alesis and Roland TD3, TD6 the piezo is placed upside down and can never induce PS in that state, "it's worth checking" with your preferred drum builder Good PS is achieved with a soft fast recovery type trigger foam and the correct tightness of mesh head.

I also noticed Koby snares are a little hit and miss on this subject too as the piezo is taped solid to the plastic tray inside and doesn't allow the piezo brass edges to ring.

My advice is to always check (of course Roland pads are ok for PS) but ouch! on the new price

rythm, like Gteps says yes our drums do FULLY support positional sensing when paired with a ps compatible module, we have a new range coming out soon chromium which also is fully supportive of ps.

and yes rythm i also agree that e drums should feel as close to Acoustic as you can get which is why I'm always striving to get just that.
We had a review in a major drumming magazine and we were really pleased that in the review it was stated by the Editor who did the review that
" Did I miss my acoustic drums ??No I didnt and that pleasantly surprised me "

We are very happy with our Triggering and have had lots of excellent feedback from customers.
we have been updating our website and will be updating it again soon with some more new products.
We can ship internationally, as we have now sorted a courier out that is reasonable priced as we had a bit of a nightmare with our previous courier due to the size and weight of the kits when sending internationally
