So anyways now that I have gotten better the one thing I really dislike is only having a crash and a ride symbol. I also hate how these are only single zones. The other area I dislike is the hard rubber feel of the pads. I know roland makes some really nice stuff but that is pro stuff $$$$
So my question is I was looking at the new Alesis DM5 PRO kit with the surge symbols. Does anybody have any experience with this kit? Is is worth upgrading to that kit. OR what other kits do you guys suggest. Thanks for the input.
erigs as possible. Check ebay or craigslist or the section here for

Don't know much about the module but I know Yamaha do some nice dual zone cymbals and I have some 8" Koby mesh pads for toms and these work fine on my TD6. If your are happy with the sounds of your kit then I would look at upgrading your pads. (the koby mesh pads are single or dual trigger options) Duncs.

I'd agree with the TD8 suggestion for a module. I just upgraded from the TD3 to TD8 and it was a pretty huge leap in features. I much prefer the sounds too.
From there you have a couple of options for pads. You could find a cheaper manufacturer than Roland. This is different depending where your from, research Pintech and Jobeky. Or i guess if you had the balls you could look into a DIY jobby. Some people make some awesome looking sets at a fraction of the cost.
