  • USB Mixers as multi channel audio interface?

    Hello girls and boys,
I am looking into buying a mixer right now, especially into the Behringer XENYX 1204(FX).
The main reason is: it is available here.
Behringer XENYX 1204FX Mixer with Effects. Four phantom powered XLR inputs, 12 inputs total. Studio-grade 24-bit stereo FX processor.
Alesis MultiMix 8 USB Mixer with USB Audio. Integrated USB port transfers 16-bit audio directly between the MultiMix USB mixer and your computer. Includes Cu...

Unless they are providing it now .. I did a research not a long time ago and it seems to exist NO USB mixer that could provide separate outs to the recording software. They just send a stereo signal ..... maybe if you pan one track hard left ...and another one hard right..as you mentioned in option b ??

This is correct. I have the MultiMix USB8, and it will not simultaneously record separate channels. The firewire versions, while more expensive offer this capability. The MultiMix USB8 is also USB 1.0 and not as fast as 2.0 or firewire.
This may be a better option for recording:

        Thank you.
I am looking now for mixers using the keywords “multiple audio data streams”
It seems Alesis is the only company offering this as it is the one popping up.
Is anybody aware of alternatives to those in the same price range?
        (or better keywords?)
