V-Drums Hi-Hat

Looking for a cheaper e-drum to practice on. My main concern is Hi-Hats and how many sounds they can give.

I played a set a few years ago and it could only do open hats (when pedal was not depressed) closed hats (with pedal depressed) and the sound of the hats closing like time keeping in Jazz.

I am looking for a cheap set (prefer Roland though) that can play the in between and strike when closed then open the hats.

Is the VH-11 the only Roland hats that can do this or can the electric pedal and cymbal pad combo do it also? (using the TD-6 or TD-8)

Oh yeah also want to know if I can use the mesh pads for hi-hats and ride cymbal?

A TD-6 or TD-8 will both give several degrees of in between sounds with either a separate pedal and pad or a VH-11.
