Rock Band Ion Drums with TD series?

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about picking up the Ion drums (https://www.drumrocker.com/products/index.php) for Rock Band and was wondering if the cymbols would work with my Roland TD-9 brain?

I don't know but my guess would be no. However Guitar Hero: World Tour has a midi input that allows you to hook up any midi kit.

I know, this kit is serious for a video game. lol I love playing Rock Band with the girlfriend though... and the drums that come with it are a joke. So I figured if I pick this Ion kit up I can Rock out AND maybe score a few cymbols for my TD-9 kit... win win. I just don't know what kind of jacks the Ion kit have... and if the TD-9 brain will accept them in the two extra inputs. =\

I really don't want to have to to the whole mod thing and use my TD drums... it looks like a hassle.

I tried googleing info on the Ion drums but can't seem to find the answer... Anyone who finds the answer will by amung my gods.

I would be more interested in the other way, can a TD set talk to Rockband? either through midi or some sort of method... that would be badass.

Yeah, if you have a TD9, I'd use that. No sense stepping down to the Ion kit and spending more money. Build yourself a box or buy one to connect the TD9 to Rockband.

Rock Band Drums triggered by midi device

Yea, you can hook up your drums to rock band. The method I went was to modify my rock band drums (you have to use the rock band drums because the game won't let you play drums with a normal controller). Then I have a midi device which triggers the rock band drum kit depending on what pad I hit on my td3. Works great, and if anything, using the bass pedal alone makes up for everything. I also have it all running into my mixer so I can overlay my drum sounds with the rock band sounds. If you program the parts correctly you can use the cymbals etc to trigger the right rock band drums.

I spent under a 100 and soldered the midi device that's mentioned there myself.

Kinda risky, but I say it was easily worth it.

It appears they use regular 1/4" jacks so I don't see why they wouldn't.
The jacks are mono though, so that would be the only thing I'd be uncertain of.

That is what I ment by the actual topic. (Thanks everyone fo the TD-9 with Rock Band info though!)

I found out today that they use 1/4" jacks, and I have converters if needed. The Ion kit ment for Rock Band is $300 with two cymbols out of the box. Well, I figure since I need more cymbols and Roland charges like $100 for 1 I believe I can use the $300 Ion kit for Rock Band (And save me the mod trouble) and then take the two cymbols and just put them on my TD-9 kit.

Win Win, no? Besides... my TD-9 kit is in the living room and I play Rock Band in the bedroom. So, a slight issue.

Yes they will. They have the same input and everything. You could put this Ion brain with Roland mesh drum heads and you could play it with Rock Band.

Yep, just did. I plugged a couple of my roland pads/cymbals in and it all works.

But why even bother with the Roland crap anymore? I mean, read the copy:

Looks like Roland's days are numbered...
