  • Adding Tom to TD-9SX?

When you add a new Tom where shoud it be placed? So by default there are three toms and they go in order from left->right, high -> low. So my question is what sounds does Roland give be default in the kits the Aux Tom? lower or higher sounds than the Floor tom? If it's higher then I would say it would be come the 3rd tom. If it's lower than the floor tom I woud think it should be the 4th.

    Thanks

I don't have an extra tom, but you could just try it by disconnecting one tom and connect it to the AUX input using a TRS cable. Or just check the settings in the pad setup [F1] and use the cursor keys to select the AUX input. Or wait until some replies who actually has 4 toms!

I have 4 toms, but use vex packs, so dont remember what the standard kits have...but all you have to do is plug the tom in and see what it does, and you can reassign any sounds you want...

My TD-9 came stock with a low tom sound as the default on AUX (lower than tom 3). So, if you want a low tom sound on AUX, just plug the new pad in and you're done. Conversely, if you want AUX to be a cymbal, you'll need to remap AUX to cymbal sounds.

If you buy the VEX packs for the TD-9, you can choose to install the version that has a low tom mounted at AUX for all the kits. (VEX comes with four different backup files, depending on, among other things, whether you want AUX to be a tom or a cymbal).
