  • TD-9 and Songs

I have a couple of questions regarding the songs. From what I understand the songs can be slowed down to help learn. I think that would help me. Does the module in any way tell you what drum pad is being triggered? Or is just up to the drummer to figure that out?

Also do TD-9 users share songs? Meaning is there a download site to get new user songs?

    Thanks

Yes, they can be slowed down, without sounding like it is in a time-warp.
The module doesn't show you what to play, it leaves it to you. I have fun trying different beats with the same song...it can really change the feel.
The module does have a drum part already recorded, if you want to hear their interpretation of what the drums should be.

Internal songs cannot be downloaded or shared, but you can load play-along tracks (wav format) through the module via USB key...or by hooking up an ipod. The tempo of those, however, cannot be changed.

Hit shift + tempo. Then rotate the big round knob to your desired tempo.

you can also mute parts of the song...ie in order to learn their drum part, you can mute the other music and just listen to the drums...or just leave the bass and jam along to it! and slow down the tempo as has been said...

you can download more backing tracks from the roland site, but these cannot be muted or slowed down: http://www.roland.com/V-Drums/download/index.html

To see what pads are being played: Hook up the TD9 to your computer via MIDI, and load up a sequencer like cubase or even some freebie shareware sequencer. Press play on the TD9 and watch whats coming in on channel 10.

            Scope

..You can also use scope for a visual representation of the accuracy of your playing and a pretty good indication of what pads you're hitting (apart from all your toms being grouped as one) while playing along to the built in songs, as they are synced to the inbuilt metronome

            Cheers
