  • Little advise please....new here

Well here is my first question of many I am sure heh.

I have a full acustic set that is in my friends studio which is great, unfortunatly I am only able to play there 2 maybe 3 times a week. So now I am looking for a electronic set to practice on in my apartment as we work on new songs. So it's not going to be used for any high end recording just little bits here and there. Any suggestions on a decent set for a guy to get some extra practice in?

    Thanks in advance!

What's your budget? The TD-9 with mesh heads is hot right now. Great sound/bang for the buck.

I agre with Alan. The TD-9SX is great value for the money. It's still not cheap though.

I went with the TD9K (TD9S in the U.S) with just 1 mesh head (snare). While still not cheap it's considerably cheaper than the full TD9KX/SX, and you can upgrade the pads you want later. If you just want something for practicing new songs, maybe the much cheaper TD3 will suffice?
2Box Drumit5, DIY 12" Snare, 12" Floor Tom, 2x10" Toms. Acoustic cymbals w/DIY triggers, Triggera Krigg, Tama Iron Cobra Kick and Tama Roadpro HH stand. Tennis Ball Riser (not needed now I have the Krigg lol).

You will be MUCH happier with the TD9 over the TD3 module, between features, sounds, tweak-ability etc.
But without a budget, hard to say....

Thanks alot guys, well I was thinking TD-3KW but since you were all pretty quick to suggest the TD-9 that is what I went out and purchased today (a fair but more then I was hoping to spend heh). Gotta say so far I love it, thanks again!

When I went shopping for an (a or e) drum in April 2008, I had a max budget of about EUR 1.000 I was willing to spend. I hadn't played drums before and wasn't sure if I would keep on playing after the first thrill was over. But after trying different kits I soon settled on the TD-9KX (with all mesh heads). I haven't mentioned this before, but my girlfriend said she also might want to play drums and went to the store with me one day. After trying some kits herself, she told me to get the TD-9KX instead of a cheaper one! So I ended up spending EUR 2.200 for a complete set: TD-9KX, sticks, drum amp, throne (which squeaks ), beater, cables, etc. I haven't had any regrets about that decision and am sure I never will. So I think you made the right choice!

PS: I have to admit that my girlfriend isn't too happy with new GAS attacks after that purchase!

well, she has only herself to blame, when she took you to the drumshop herself....

If she had known that buying a TD9 woud cause GAS, she wouldn't have let me near the store in a million years! She thought that purchase would be the end, instead of a start.
