  • Trick Dominator

I know they aren't due out until September, but wanted to see if anyone has got a sneak peek / play time with this pedal. How does it compare to the Trick Pro 1-V Detonator? I'm completing my research for my intial kit and the pedal is the last piece of the equation. I've got it narrowed down to the Iron Cobra, Trick Pro 1-V, and the Dominator at this point. Any input or preliminary reviews would be appreciated...

Ok so if I have GAS it is for a Trick Pro 1-V and that clip only put it into overdrive...wow that pedal is sweet.

Yeah, I saw that and it's what has me considering the dominator. I can live with the standard beater and absence of a floor plate. Just wanted some 'real world' opinions from the vdrum community to help me make a decision there. I'm actually leaning towards the detonator at the moment but could be swayed with some positive feedback for the dominator. Unfortunately, there aren't any Trick dealers in Oklahoma that have anything I can review in person...

I have a friend with a Detonator and I don't like it nearly as much as the Big Foot. Something to consider when spending that kind of money!

Thanks Pasta. I actually just got my kit in the last two weeks and got the Trik Big Foot. It's an absolutely great pedal and now I just need to do it justice...

Yeah as far as acutal differences. The adjustments on the 'throw' of the pedal or whatever the technical name for it is... There's a fixed one on the Dominator and on the Bigfoot (or standard board) ones there's 3 different 'throw adjustments'. I'm still in awe of how quick the pedal is and how crazy smooth it feels. It really takes some time adjusting to that as I've always had to compensate on other pedals, lol.

I love my bigfoots and as soon as I finish my acoustic kit and some more recording gear/krk studio monitors I'm gonna pick up another 2 single bigfoots for my TD-20 kit. =0)

I actually like the Iron Cobra better personally (rolling glide) for feel.

-Keep in mind I've never fully done all the adjustments etc capable of the Trick. Side by side at the store, cobra felt better to my foot. I also don't like the power glide cobra as much as the rolling glide but the difference is slight.

                *your mileage may vary.

I just got my Dominators today and I can say this...I will never buy another pedal ever again,These things are incredible and they were made for me. Mine have the bases on the bottom. Must be an updated design. It's nice to have the bases cause you can cover the bottom in velcro to keep them from sliding on rug.
